Deep clean your mattress with steam

Steam Clean MattressMattresses are something we all own and generally keep for years. Unfortunately over time body fluids, bacteria, dust mites and even bed bugs can accumulate impacting our health and wellbeing as we sleep each night.

Steam is the ideal way to eliminate these nasties. High temperature steam cleans deep below the surface to sanitise your mattress and kill dust mites, bed bugs and bacteria.

To do the job right you’ll need a quality steam cleaner with both steam and vac functionality. Using both steam and vacuum will allow you to lift dirt then steam deep below the surface to sanitise and kill any nasties.

Using your steam cleaner simply vacuum your mattress all over to lift loose dirt, then apply dry vapour steam to the surface steaming slowing and thoroughly across the entire mattress. This process will effectively eliminate anything lurking in your mattress and sanitise the entire mattress ensuring you can sleep easy.

Steam clean your bathroom with ease

Steam clean your bathroom

Cleaning the bathroom is one of those arduous yet essential cleaning tasks around the home. Regular cleaning makes a huge difference and is made particularly easy with the use of a steam cleaner.

Today I’d like to show you how to clean three essential areas of your bathroom with a steam cleaner.

1. Toilets

Toilets are a pain to clean, but easy with a steam cleaner. Steam has the ability to deep clean and sanitise your toilet. Use the detail nozzles to clean all the hard to reach places, and the large nylon brushes to steam and scrub the outside areas of the toilet like the toilet seat. If desired, the extension poles can also be used to clean the toilet from a safe distance. After steaming wipe the outside areas of the toilet down with a cloth as there will be some residual moisture from steaming.

2. Showers

Showers tend to build up dirt, mould and soap scum over time resulting in a shower area that is less than inviting. Stay on top of this cleaning task with a steam cleaner which has the ability to penetrate deep below the surface to have grout looking like new and shower screens crystal clear.

Use the small nylon brush with steam to clean wall grout, and either the nylon or wire detail brush for the floor grout. For cleaning soap scum use one of the larger brushes with steam only on low to medium pressure. Scrub in a circular motion. If the soap scum isn’t moving try rubbing the area with vinegar prior to steaming. To finish cleaning walls and glass use the steam and vacuum squeegee.

3. Sinks, taps and drains

Steam cleaning your sinks, taps and drains is incredibly fast and effective. Use the detail nozzle on your steam cleaner and steam into the nooks and crannies around the taps on medium steam pressure. Any built up dirt will shoot out from under and behind the taps so be careful not to hold your hand too close to the nozzle.

Clean drains using the nylon detail brush by scrubbing the area with steam. Wipe clean with a dry cloth to remove any residual moisture. To clean the sink use one of the nylon brushes and scrub on low steam.

You can also sanitise inside the drain using the optional plunger attachment. This plunger will not allow steam to escape from the drain and will kill any bacteria present. Apply steam to the drain for 5 to 10 seconds with the steam level on high.

A final word on steam cleaning bathrooms

As with any cleaning task, the longer you leave it the harder it becomes. If you haven’t deep cleaned your bathroom in a long time remember that it might take a little extra work the first time. Once you start steam cleaning it on a regular basis the job becomes quick and easy. Don’t own a steam cleaner? Check out our range of domestic steam cleaners and get started today.

Eliminate bed bugs with steam

Eliminate bed bugs

Of all the nasties you could have lurking in your home, bed bugs would have to be up there with the worst. These parasitic creatures live in bedding and surrounds and feed nightly on human blood. Worse still, they leave unsightly, itchy bites which can number in the hundreds following a bad attack. Upon the discovery of bed bugs in your home you will want to eliminate them fast too. These creatures multiply at a rapid rate meaning a few bugs can quickly turn into a severe infestation.

Of the many methods out there to eliminate bed bugs, steam is the most effective. Unlike chemical based methods steam uses pure water alone to effectively kill bugs instantly via thermal shock. This means quick and easy elimination of bugs, their eggs and larvae without the need to ventilate rooms or clean surfaces afterwards to remove harsh chemicals. Steam will literally stop the bugs in their tracks.

Many steam cleaners will do the job but if you are looking for the ultimate in bed bug elimination you can’t go past the Cimex Bed Bug Eradicator. This specialist machine made by Italian steam experts Polti is purpose built for the job. Steam is superheated to 180 degrees to instantly kill bed bugs, their eggs and larvae on contact.

To eliminate bed bugs the infested area will need to be thoroughly treated with steam including mattresses, bedding, and any surrounding areas including walls, crevices, bedside furniture and any clothing that has come into contact with the affected area. Thankfully, following a thorough steam your home will be infestation free and you can once again sleep easy.

Steam cleaning for accommodation providers

Steam Cleaning for Accommodation

Accommodation providers know the difference a good clean can make – it can be the difference between a happy guest and a disappointed guest, a good review and a bad review and indeed a thriving business and one that is struggling to survive. The need to keep beautifully clean premises in the accommodation industry means a steam cleaner could be your greatest ally. Here’s why.

A good steam cleaner is capable of deep cleaning almost every surface in your hotel, motel or resort including upholstery, carpets, grout in tiled floors, windows, curtains, mattresses, bathrooms, kitchens and more. High temperature steam cleans deep below the surface to lift hard to reach dirt, grime and stains.

Accommodation providers have a range of steam cleaners to choose from when it comes to cleaning their premises. The SV6 and SV8D are great all round performance machines with steam and vacuum and continuous refill functionality. If you’re looking for something on the lower end of the scale the steam only Eco Pro may be more suited. Alternatively providers experiencing problems with bed bugs might opt for the Cimex Bed Bug Eradicator, a specialist bed bug elimination machine.

How to clean upholstery with a steam cleaner

steam cleaning upholstery

Cleaning upholstery items isn’t always the easiest task. These items always look great when first purchased, but months and years down the track dirt, grime and stains can build up quickly making them look old and tired. Rubbing and scrubbing generally does little more than smearing stains and leaving your upholstery wet for days. For those experiencing such problems, a steam cleaner might be your answer.

A household steam cleaner can be used to clean your upholstery, with steam penetrating deep below the surface to effectively lift built up dirt and stains. The high temperature steam cleans and sanitises deep below the surface using nothing more than pure water straight from your tap. In addition the process leaves the surface completely dry. Simply steam away using the upholstery tool on your steam cleaner then switch to the vacuum functionality to vacuum any residual dirt leaving the surface beautifully clean.

For very dirty upholstery surfaces you might also like to pre-spray the surface with an upholstery detergent. Note that the less detergent you use the drier the surface will be.

By cleaning your upholstery regularly with a steam cleaner you can avoid the built up dirt and grime that comes with years of use. Importantly though, if you do have upholstery that has not been cleaned in years a steam cleaner does have the ability to lift dirt and grime from deep below the surface. In fact it does the job to a level few other upholstery cleaning methods can boast.

Are you an allergy sufferer? Steam cleaning could help

Allergy sufferers solution

Long time allergy sufferers know all too well the pain and discomfort such afflictions can cause. While allergies do vary in their causes and symptoms one of the most common allergy causes is in fact the humble household dust mite . Miniscule in size, these tiny microorganisms thrive in dusty household environments like bedding, carpets and upholstery items. Unfortunately for allergy sufferers the only way to prevent an allergic reaction to dust mites in sufferers is to eliminate them completely.

Dust mites are very susceptible to the high temperatures associated with steam cleaning, in fact they cannot survive the 130 degree temperature generated by our range of top of the line steam cleaners. In addition, Polti steam cleaners have been given the prestigious British Allergy Foundation ‘Seal of Approval’ for their effectiveness in eliminating dust mites.

While many believe an everyday vacuum cleaner has the ability to reduce dust mite populations, scientific studies have shown a steam cleaner to be almost twice as effective as a regular vacuum cleaner in eliminating dust mites.

If you or someone in your family suffers from allergies steam cleaning is the next logical step. It’s a quick and easy process, it doesn’t use any harsh chemicals (only pure water straight from the tap) and its incredibly effective at eliminating dust mites which lies at the root of many allergy symptoms.
